SOIES - Contribution to the Worldwide Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs)

Building on the successful, Millennium Development Goals, the UN formulated worldwide sustainable development goals for 15 yrs. from 2016-2030, known as the 2030 Agenda. The Sustainable Development Goals apply to both developed and developing nations in creating a sustainable world and upholding the motto “Leaving No One Behind.”

A private educational institution with the ability to meet several of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) of the 2030 Agenda, Silver Oaks School is convinced that inspired Oakians may make a significant contribution to sustainable living via morally upstanding leadership.

SOIES has extracted & has already executed some of the initiatives from the agenda 2030 such as; a; Planting as many trees as there are employees, with a pledge to keep up the practice as the organization’s workforce expands, b; Publishing quarterly SOIES Communique’ that addresses core challenges like violence against children, cyber abuse risks, responsible yet sustainable behavioural patterns, and an understanding of children’s learning process, c; Gradually converting all schools to solar energy, d; An 80% decrease in paper use by 2025, e; Introducing a sustainability education module, expanding it to the high school, and bridging the gap between education and “real-world skills” to enrich the SOIES HCD curriculum, f; Formally embracing recycling procedures as an institution and rejecting single-use through repair or refurbishment.

Sharing is Caring for Sustainable Consumption

Through sustainable consumption, SOIES launched a Reusability Campaign to advance a “responsible citizen movement.” Oakian Parents & pupils actively contributed to making this world a more sustainable one by donating extra gently used clothing, shoes, toys, and books to the school. Oakian pupils were then engaged in the project by sorting through the good-condition items. These goods were then refurbished and wrapped as Eid presents. The supplies were delivered to the Muslim Hands Organization, an NGO pertaining to 40,000 children, orphan students and other complementary services. Before Eid-ul-Fitr, our staff members and a team of six pupils (head boys & head girls) shared the happiness of Eid by distributing gifts among the children at Muslim Hands School.
