12 December, 2018 · Volunteering Theme Activity @ Silver Oaks
International Volunteer Day (IVD), celebrated on December 5, is an international observance designated by UN since 1985. Founded on the values of solidarity and mutual trust, volunteerism transcends all cultural, linguistic and geographical boundaries. By giving their time and skills without expectation of material reward, volunteers themselves are uplifted by a singular sense of purpose. The task of protecting human dignity and achieving noble goals such as eradicating poverty and hunger, intolerance and discrimination, and other threats to human dignity would be impossible without the energy and dedication of volunteers. To value, acknowledge and celebrate the work of volunteers, Oakians honored them through a great applause in an activity based assembly. To commemorate this day, Oakians indulged in various activities. In public speaking sessions they highlighted that by creating a sense of cohesion and solidarity within society, volunteering can build a sense of self-worth, and true feeling of pride for volunteers in creating a better world. Learners of Preschool took part in themed art work activities.
