05 October, 2018 · Teachers’ Day @ Silver Oaks Global Citizenship
World Teachers' Day, also known as International Teachers’ Day, is held annually on October 5. Established in 1994, it commemorates the signing of the 1966 "Teaching in Freedom". "The right to education means the right to a qualified teacher” is the theme of this year (2018). At Silver Oaks, recognizing that “a teacher nourishes the soul of a child for a lifetime, while presenting the past, revealing the present, and creating the future”, Oakians celebrated Teachers’ Day through a range of activities – an ode to teachers and thanking them via cards, oral tribute or creative writing. Simultaneously, the theme activity coincided with the Spell-a-thon competition - Spell-a-thon develops pupils’ interest, enhances vocabulary and strengthens their command on spelling and pronunciation by incorporating the element of fun in learning. Pre-School pupils took part in the cooking activity and celebrated purple and yellow color days in community and international campuses respectively.
