20 March, 2018 · World Poetry Day Celebrated @Silver Oaks – March 16, 2018
Oakians celebrated World’s Poetry Day on March 16, to acknowledge the importance of vocal expression in our lives. United Nations has dedicated a day specifically to recognize the undeniable importance and beauty of poetry as a form of expression. The decision to signify 21st March as ‘Poetry Day’ was taken in the year 1999. The content behind celebrating this day is to encourage the return of this oral tradition. Our learners at Silver Oaks celebrated this day by participating in various poetry-based activities. Learners from Preschool, Primary, and Middle school enjoyed their contribution in hamd; naat; songs; patriotic songs and national anthem. In addition, they received knowledge about the poetic contributions of Sir Allama Iqbal, William Shakespeare, Hafeez Jallundhri, William Wordsworth, Shah Abdul Latif Bhittai and Bulleh Shah. The event aimed to raise awareness of poetry as the global expression.
